One of my most memorable experiences was at this year’s edition of Startup Weekend in Hong Kong this past weekend. Over a hundred talented developers, designers and business entrepreneurs came together to pitch some really innovative ideas in technology, health and fitness, lifestyle, education and logistics, just to name a few. The goal was to build and launch a startup within 54 hours, concluding with final pitches to a table of renowned judges. A total of 15 startup ideas were worked on over the weekend.
I was a part of an amazing team trying to create a business and technology to help people find under-utilised doctors nearby. Our target audience would be those that do not have immediate access to their family doctor, or are people from out of town but are in need of consultation or treatment within Hong Kong. Aside from simply providing a directory of doctors based on geolocation, we also offer a booking system and reviews for patients who are wary of visiting a new doctor.
I was responsible for designing the logo and a mobile app UI that is functional yet simple to use. My team also included developers and marketing experts that helped me shape the UX and UI design. Our app won Best User Experience and a runner-up in the competition. I’m very grateful for the opportunity to work with some very talented people and also a chance to meet many other like-minded individuals. Many thanks and a big congrats to all the winners and participants. A job well done by everyone all around.
